How Can I Report an Error in Directions or an Incorrectly Mapped Address?

To Report an Error in Directions
Please submit a help request and we'll file a map error report on your behalf to correct the error.

In order to correct the directions you've received, please include the following information:

  1. Your starting locations's physical address and coordinates (Learn how to get coordinates below)
  2. Your destination's physical address and coordinates
  3. Which numbered steps are incorrect (Ex: "Step 7 says to turn north on Main Street. You should turn south instead.")
  4. Please indicate whether you received these directions from the MapQuest for Mobile app or MapQuest.com

To Report an Incorrectly Mapped Address
Please submit a help request and we'll file a map error report on your behalf to correct the error.

In order to correct the location of an address, please include the following information:

  1. The physical address for the location; Example: 1555 Blake Street, Denver, CO 80202
  2. The location's coordinates; Example: 39.750323, -104.999488 (Learn how to get coordinates below.)

How Do I Get Coordinates to Report a Mapping Error?

To ensure the accuracy of map reports, we ask that you provide the latitude and longitude for both the beginning location and destination. Please follow the instructions below to provide this information.

  1. Go to: http://www.mapquest.com
  2. Type in your address and zoom into the location where your map marker should be
  3. Place your cursor over and right click the correct location (MAC users hit control + click the correct location)
  4. Latitude and Longitude coordinates should display underneath the address in a small pop-up window
  5. Please Copy and Paste these coordinates into your help request so that we may best assist you

How Do I Report an Error on a Business or Point of Interest Page?

If the Business Listing Has An Incorrect Address, Phone Number, Hours, etc:

Is your listing page displaying an outdated address? Is the business name incorrect? Do your hours of operation need adjusting? Please click here to send us a support ticket so that our Business Support team can ensure that your listing is as accurate as possible.

When filling out your request, please include as much of the following information as you can so that your request may be processed most efficiently:

  • Business Name, Address, and Phone Number as they currently appear on MapQuest (if possible, please include a URL link to the MapQuest Listing page)
  • What is the main cause for your contacting us?  If the business description, hours, etc. are displayed incorrectly, please let us know with as much detail as possible what the error is so that our Business Support team can best assist you

If the Business Listing Data is Displayed Correctly, but the Map Marker is Located Incorrectly:

If the data we display on your business listing page looks accurate, but the map marker is not properly placed on the map, please click here to send us a support ticket so that our Business Support team can ensure that your listing is as accurate as possible.

When filling out your request, please include as much of the following information as you can so that your request may be processed most efficiently:

If There Are Multiple Listings for the Same Business (at the Same Location):

If you notice upon searching for your business that the search results contain multiple listings for the same business (at the same location), our Business Support team can merge these listings together to alleviate any confusion for potential customers.

How Do I Report a Closed Business?

If you see a business listed on MapQuest that has closed, please click here to send us a support ticket so that our Business Support team can ensure that our listings are as up-to-date as possible.

When filling out your request, please include as much of the following information as you can so that your request may be processed most efficiently:

  • Business Name, Address, and Phone Number as they currently appear on MapQuest
  • If possible, please include a URL link to the MapQuest Listing page)

Once our Business Support team has this information, they will verify that the location has closed and update our data accordingly.

The address is correct, but the location is wrong

If the data we display on your business-listing page looks accurate, but the map marker is not properly placed on the map, please click here to send us a ticket so that our Business Support team can ensure that your listing is as accurate as possible.

A premium listings package from our partner, Yext, is one of the easiest and most thorough ways for you to gain complete control of your business' presence online, as Yext can send your preferred business info to a number of select partners, including Yahoo, Yelp, Foursquare, Bing, and more.

How and why to create a free MapQuest account

The only way to securely save maps, routes, and recent searches on MapQuest.com is to log in to your MapQuest account each time you come to our website.

You don't need to log in to use the basic features of MapQuest, but you will need to log in to use My Maps features.

If you don't log in you won't be able to save places or routes you create and any recent searches or preferences you set may disappear if your Internet browser's temporary files are cleared, if private browsing is enabled, or if you switch Internet browsers/computers. It doesn't take long to make an account or log in and it's totally worth it!

To create a free MapQuest account:

  1. Visit www.mapquest.com and click Sign up, located in the upper left-hand corner of the page

         

  1. Enter a valid email address and password (you'll want to make sure the strength of your password shows the password indicator at 2+ stars)
  2. Check your email for a message from us - you'll need to click the Verify My Email Address button in the email to confirm your account before logging in

If you prefer, you can use an existing Facebook or Aol account to log into MapQuest - simply click the facebook or Aol. button on the Sign Up screen to create a MapQuest account using your Facebook or Aol credentials.

Please note: You will be able to create a MapQuest account with any valid email address (linking an Aol or Facebook account is not required).

If you see an error or are unable to create an account with the email address you entered, it may already be in use. If you think you may already have an account, try logging in instead using the Log in link in the upper left corner of www.mapquest.com. If you can't remember your password, try the I forgot my password link on the Log in screen.
