How to Change the Language in the MapQuest App

The language displayed in the MapQuest app is automatically determined by your mobile device's system settings. MapQuest does not have a separate in-app setting to switch languages independently.

To change the MapQuest app to French (or another language), update your device’s language settings by following the steps below.

Changing Language on iPhone (iOS)

You can change the language for your entire device or specifically for the MapQuest app:

Change Language for MapQuest Only (iOS 13 and later)

  1. Open your iPhone Settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap MapQuest.

  3. Under Preferred Language, tap Language.

  4. Select French (or your preferred language).

Change Language for Your Entire iPhone

  1. Open your iPhone Settings.

  2. Tap General > Language & Region.

  3. Tap Add Language... and select French.

  4. Set French as your primary language.

Changing Language on Android

On Android devices, changing the system language will automatically update the MapQuest app:

  1. Open your phone's Settings.

  2. Tap System > Languages & input (or General management > Language on Samsung devices).

  3. Tap Languages and select Add a language.

  4. Choose French and drag it to the top of the list to set it as your primary system language.

What to Expect After Changing the Language

  • App Text: Buttons, menus, and on-screen text in MapQuest will update to display in your selected language.

  • Voice Navigation: Turn-by-turn voice guidance will automatically switch to matching voice directions in your preferred language, provided text-to-speech for that language is supported on your device.

Note: We will be supporting more languages very soon!
