Setting custom departure or arrival times allows you to plan your trip ahead of time, get accurate traffic predictions, and estimate travel times for future journeys.
How to Set a Custom Schedule
Enter Your Origin and Destination:
Input your starting point (A) and destination (B) in the route planner screen.
Open the Time Selector:
Tap the 🕒 Leave now (or Leave at) dropdown menu located directly below your route locations list (next to Route settings).
Choose Leave at or Arrive by:
Select whether you want to set a Departure time (Leave at) or a Target arrival time (Arrive by).
Set Date and Time:
Date: Tap the Calendar icon (e.g., Sep 30) to select the day of your trip.
Time: Tap the Clock icon (e.g., 1:23 PM) to choose the specific time.
View Your Route Options:
MapQuest will automatically recalculate your estimated travel time and recommended arrival/departure times based on typical traffic patterns for that specific day and time.
Reverting to Real-Time Directions
If you want to return to live, immediate routing:
Tap the schedule dropdown menu (Leave at / Arrive by).
Switch back to Leave now to calculate directions based on current real-time traffic conditions.
