MapQuest provides customizable app settings so you can tailor your navigation and user experience to your preferences. Whether you want to adjust visual themes, change measurement units, customize route options, or toggle EV mode, managing your settings is simple.
How to Access Settings
You can access your route settings and preferences in two ways:
From the Main App Settings:
Tap the gear icon located next to "Let's explore!".
Tap Profile and settings to view all available options.
While Creating a Route:
When planning a trip, look directly below the destination/address fields (e.g., Stop A, "Where are you going?" fields).
Tap Route settings (located next to Leave now) to quickly adjust your preferences before starting your guidan
Available Settings Options
Theme: Adjust the app's visual appearance (e.g., Light, Dark, or Auto default). Choosing Auto default automatically matches the app's appearance to your device's overall system preferences.
Units of measure: Choose your preferred unit system for distance and speed (Miles vs. Kilometers).
Route preferences: Customize your routing options and safety alerts, including:
Avoid tolls: Exclude toll roads from your calculated routes.
Avoid highways: Prefer surface streets and local roads over highways.
Avoid ferries: Exclude routes that require ferry crossings.
Avoid seasonally closed roads: Route around roads that close during certain seasons.
Avoid unpaved roads: Keep routes on paved surfaces by avoiding dirt or gravel roads.
Speed camera alerts: Toggle warnings for known speed camera locations.
Red light camera alerts: Toggle warnings for upcoming red light cameras.
Navigation audio: Select which voice you would like to hear. We recommend MapQuest Voice!
Edit saved places: Manage, update, or remove your saved home, work, and favorite locations.
I drive an electric vehicle: Toggle this switch on to enable EV-specific features, such as routing optimized for electric vehicles and finding nearby charging stations.
